A new round of ABC Wednesday begins today!
I considered taking a break from this photo project but decided to try doing it with a theme instead of randomly posting a thing related to a letter.
My theme is also work related so that should keep me in good supply of subjects.
Antique, that which is from long ago. Vintage, that which is from less than long ago and is within memory of most people but not in current sale or often used.
The definition of what constitutes an Antique varies widely from field to field and item to item. Here are some examples:
Within the trade of Antique Dealers it has been a common rule that a “real” antique is over 100 years old, anything newer is a “vintage collectible”
Etsy.com has categories for “Antiques” titled as “50-75 years old” “75-100 years old” and “100+ years old”
eBay has many more ranges of what they consider antique and generally it is whatever the market chooses to believe.
Scientific and Medical items are often sold as “before 1930″ with everything else being in the after section.
Individual States Motor vehicle departments choose what year they consider “Antique” or “Historical” vehicles, California for instance issues plates for Antique Motorcycles as being made in 1942 or before. Automobiles of 16 or more cylinders up to 1965 and those built before 1922 are able to obtain “Horseless Carriage” plates.
These definitions are fluid and will be changing the moment I am finished typing this post.
Throughout the next 26 weeks I will bring you a letter related post having to do with an interesting (to me at least) Antique or Vintage collectible.

That is very interesting – Charles left behind a 1976 Ford Pickup which, being over thirty years old, is considered vintage here in Canada, I believe. A great theme for this trip through the alphabet! I will be watching and learning and enjoying.
I’m so glad you decided to stick around. I admire doing a theme; can’t pull it off myself

The antique automobiles are beautiful.
Historic automobile runs are fascinating. From the plate it looks as though they have found the perfect place to finish. Great idea for a theme.

Looking forward to your theme. Love antiques and vintage stuff. This should be fun.
Glad you’re onboard again. Antiques and collectibles, why you won’t be able to wait for ABC Wednesday to roll around!!!
Scary, lots of my everyday stuff is a vintage collectable. What does that say about me? – Margy
