Skywatch Friday : The episode where water falls from the sky

Yes folks we have cool temps (OK cold at night for us!)returning to Southern California this week!

It has been an amazing run of warm , clear days throughout January and February  but they are now overcast and we had rain all day Wednesday and the local forecast calls for more wet stuff Friday through Sunday.

The clouds are starting to loom above Corona ,rolling in from the Pacific across the Cleveland National Forest. The home in the photo has been undergoing renovation for the last few years. It was built in the late 1800’s and once sported a second story also with a full wrap around porch. The gardens have many specimen trees and the original carriage house still stands just to the right of the main house. The home is located on Grand Blvd, once a race track for the speed record setters including Barney Oldfield ,but that is a story for another day…

We have no outdoor plans this weekend so that is all fine by me!

The full snow moon will be out on Friday Feb. 18th but it will be too cloudy here to get a decent photo in the night sky. This moon is also known as the full Hunger moon because by this time the Winter has tightened its grip on the land making hunting difficult with game scarce.

  1. Interesting information about the old house, – it looks quite modern without its second story. Cloudy weather here, too, but the Hunger moon rose tonight and cast its light on all the clouds around it and made a lovely sight.

  2. wow! very interesting….weather here in TX is between 70-80…:) great shot!

Hope you can take a peek at my SkyWatch Friday entry as well. Thanks!

  3. Love this photo…and your title for it made me laugh!

  4. Snow is surely on its way.
