Full Sturgeon Moon

August is the “Full Sturgeon Moon” these and other large fish of the Great Lakes and other Northern waters like Lake Champlain are ready to be caught. People in other parts of North America  call this the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

Full moon of August 13th 2011 peeks around a shaggy Palm.

This full moon is poor timing for  enjoying the annual  Perseid meteor shower; the display will peak on this very same day and the light of the moon will  wash out all but a few the very brightest streaks of light.
