Q is for Quaffing Root Beer!

Snoopy, the Beagle who takes a turn at being a WWI Flying Ace in many Peanuts Comic strips penned by Charles Schulz, has been known to Quaff a few Root Beers from time to time because as we all know by now one does not gulp or sip them!

In honor of Veteran’s Day next Monday November 12th 2012 let us all Quaff a root beer to remember those who served.

From 1969 to 1998, cartoonist Charles M. Schulz (himself a veteran of World War II) regularly paid tribute to Bill Mauldin ( Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist) in his Peanuts comic strip on Veterans Day. In the strips, Snoopy, dressed as an army vet, would annually go to Mauldin’s house to “quaff a few root beers and tell war stories.” By the end of the strip Schulz had depicted 17 of Snoopy’s visits.

What an awesome post at a most appropriate time of year. We must all remember our veterans – both from the past also those still living and fighting for our countries.
