Spring Bird Kerfluffle

I was int he front of the house this afternoon when I heard a lot of bird noise wafting in from the backyard, not the usual Mockingbird vs Bluejay spat but loud strident Blackbirds and the resident Mourning Dove!

I have never seen or heard the Dove involved in any of the Spring wild bird foolishness so I grabbed the little camera and went to see what the kerfluffle was all about.

One of the Blackbirds had decided to perch on the Doves favorite utility pole, this is just not done in polite birddom, the pole is directly above the Dove’s nest in the big Ivy.

Soon the Blackbirds mate came along and they had now surrounded her…this did not turn out well for the Blackbirds because a moment later the Mourning Dove had enough of this pushy couple and in a rush of flapping she hopped up and reclaimed her post!

Peaceful cooing has been restored to the Ivy with the Blackbirds banished.
